{"id":282,"date":"2021-04-21T02:07:38","date_gmt":"2021-04-21T02:07:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lifeintheup.com\/?p=282"},"modified":"2021-04-21T02:07:38","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T02:07:38","slug":"lidocaine-ephinephrine-reaction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeintheup.com\/?p=282","title":{"rendered":"Lidocaine\/Ephinephrine Reaction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I visited the dentist today for a new crown.\u00a0 \u00a0Before starting I told the dentist that sometimes I didn&#8217;t always numb up from whatever they use as a numbing agent.\u00a0 He told me they would be using Lidocaine. \u00a0All was going well until the second injection.\u00a0 At that point it felt like I had an electrical shot in my jaw and I started feeling really anxious.\u00a0 I never feel anxious like that.\u00a0 I waited for him to finish the injection, because what more could I do?\u00a0 Then I told him I was feeling strange, that I never feel anxious, but was feeling anxious.\u00a0 I was feeling restless and I didn&#8217;t know how else to explain it.\u00a0 He was very calm and told me that there was also Epinephrine with the Lidocaine, and \u00a0while it didn&#8217;t happen often,\u00a0 it did effect some people the way I described it. He said it would subside after a few minutes. I was also having a sharp pain in my chest, so I said to him, &#8220;So I am not having a heart attack?\u00a0 This pain in my chest is normal?&#8221;\u00a0 He looked at me and told me I was not having a heart attack.\u00a0 Okay, I felt better about that.\u00a0 Yet, I did not feel better at all.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He explained to me why they use epinephrine and why it was making me feel the way it did.\u00a0 That was also reassuring.\u00a0 He sat there with me for awhile, but then got up and left me in the care of his assistant. (I am sorry, I am sure she has a title, but I do not know what it was.)\u00a0 After the doctor left I sat there for awhile.\u00a0 The assistant chatted with me, while I described how I was feeling.
